A Great Lovely song from the late ' John Denver ' who sadly died in a Plane Crash whilst piloting his own Plane.
A television movie titled "Sunshine", shown on NBC in 1973, used the song as a theme. The movie starred Cliff DeYoung and Cristina Raines. It told the story of a young mother in love and dying. High ratings prompted a TV series (dubbed just Sunshine) which ran for three months during the summer of 1974. The short-lived series began where the movie left off with the young widowed father (Cliff DeYoung) raising his stepdaughter (Elizabeth Cheshire). The woman is dying of cancer and the father sings the song to her. When the mom dies, the movie ends with Dad carrying the child on his shoulders on a sunny day--"Sunshine On My Shoulders" playing in the background
One more from John Denver, from The 1973 Film

Israel was sadly taken from us in 1997 at the age of 38
When he died of a heart attack.
In the latter part of his life Israel 'IZ' Kamakawiwo'ole had suffered from a severe form of obesity, coming to weigh 340 kg being 188 cm tall, which was even more out the contrast between the size of his body and the tiny ukulele played by him. He died from respiratory problems 26 June 1997 at the age of 38 years. The whole day was shown the Hawaiian flag at half mast. His body was exposed to the Capitol Building in Honolulu, where more than 10,000 people paid tribute to him. His ashes - as you can see in the video - were scattered in the ocean at Makua Beach. Iz was nicknamed 'The Good Giant' by his admirers. Iz is also remembered for being one of the last full-blooded Hawaiians: always smiling and optimistic about himself, and was particularly appreciated for the love he felt for his land and his people.
